Kathryn grew up in a large family on California's Central Coast - surrounded by rolling hills, a diverse coastline, family farms and flower fields. Having been interested in every facet of the creative process from a young age; she started painting and drawing as a child - then went on to study ceramic sculpture and pottery throughout her teenage years.
After completing Graphic Design studies at California State University, San Diego; she relocated with her husband to the Pacific Northwest; with it's spectacular scenery and endless opportunities to explore the outdoors. While raising their young family, Kathryn participated in the "Art Literacy" program as well as several other volunteer opportunities supporting arts education in local schools. As well, with her ongoing interest in the fine arts, she continued her education at the Pacific Northwest College of Art.
She began painting professionally a few years later; using non-traditional watercolor techniques, and eventually adding oil media to her repertoire. She continues to be inspired by the natural and rural landscape. Hiking with her camera and sketchbook is one of her favorite pastimes. This, combined with a love for travel provides a continuous source of substantive and passionate material for her studio paintings.
